    11th Musikahan Sa Tagum Festival

MANILA, Philippines - The City of Tagum comes alive with festival colors, marching artists and cheering supporters as the 11th Musikahan sa Tagum Festival opens.

The annual festival, celebrated February 21-26, 2012, with the theme ''Harvest of Creativity, Celebrating Global Solidarity,'' aims to strengthen the culture and arts program of the country and promote Tagum City, the Music Capital of Mindanao. The week-long celebration is expected to draw thousands of merrymakers to sing and dance along with the performances of solo players, marching brass bands, choral groups, drum-bugle-and-lyre corps players, and other young musicians in the Himig Handog Chorale, Rondal Awit, and Avenida Musika Marching Brass Bands and Competition.

Tagum City is one of the component cities of Davao del Norte. It is located in south-ern Mindanao in Region XI. It is bounded in the north by the towns of Asuncion and New Corella; in the south by Davao Gulf; in the east by the towns of Maco and Mawab; and in the west by the towns of Carmen and Dujali.

Tagum City is one of the country's top 10 fastest urban centers. As the home of Festivals in the South, it does not only excel in music and arts but in local governance as well. Its Literacy Coordinating Council has been conferred Honorable Mention of the King Sejong International Literacy Prize by UNESCO for its ''Peace Management, Literacy, and Continuing Education through Night Market Program'' in 2011.

We congratulate the Officials and Residents of Tagum City led by Mayor Rey T. Uy, Vice Mayor Allan L. Rellon, City Administrator Rafael E. Abrenica, City Treasurer Edgar C. de Guzman, and Tagum City Tourism Council headed by Chairperson Alma L. Uy, on the occasion of their 11th Musikahan sa Tagum Festival. We wish them all the best and success in all their endeavors. CONGRATULATIONS!
