    Best Philippine tourist destination?

Welcome to our first post for H.O.Y. (Heard on Yahoo!), the community blog of Yahoo! Philippines!

H.O.Y. is where we'll feature Yahoo! users and keep you updated on what's happening with the Yahoo! Philippines community. This is also the space where we'll cover updates on the thriving Pinoy online community and introduce you to the real people behind the blogs and social network profiles.

So keep visiting H.O.Y., follow @yahooph on Twitter, and Like Yahoo! Philippines on Facebook. Remember, this space is for you, so let's keep the conversation going!

For our first post, we asked the members of the Yahoo! Philippines community on our official Facebook Page to share which Philippine destination they would recommend most to tourists, and why. After all, we Filipinos should do our share in promoting Philippine tourism and find ways to help DOT (the Department of Tourism), right?

Here's what the Yahoo! Philippines community had to say.

"Cebu City because it's such a rich city in terms of culture, history, scenery and flavor," said Pau Bernasor. "Plus going around the city is not that expensive at all."

Meanwhile, Erwin Casicas urged tourists to pay a visit to Bohol. "It showcases fun, relaxation, food and Filipino culture. It also affords the tourist a glimpse of Philippine history which pre-dates the Spanish."

According to Chien Mila, the best Philippine destination is Palawan. "I'm not from Palawan at hindi ko pa narating ang lugar na yan pero maraming mga magagandang beaches doon, especially yung underground river! (and I haven't been there yet, but it has many beautiful beaches, and especially has the underground river)."

Brp Goyo batted for Intramuros. "There's no place in Asia or even the world with that much history. Used as a capital, bombed heavily twice, and even up to now, still stands as a testament to the Filipino people's resilience to oppressors."

CamSur (Camarines Sur) was the choice of Pamela Wann. "The beach, the surf, the wind... beautiful people, too. Warm hospitality and clean surroundings. All these qualities are enough to make both local residents and tourists alike come and visit the place."

For Roselyne Bairan Cua, Boracay is still the best Philippine destination.

"Nasa island ka na may madaming magagandang (You're on an island with a lot of beautiful) resorts, restos, sports activites. Or pag gusto mo lang ng (Or if you just want) RnR, laze around the beaches, enjoy the white sun, wade in the big sea pool and just enjoy Mother Nature Beauty and listen to the sound of the waves," Cua said.

I would recommend tourists to visit the once famous WAWA DAM in Montalban, Rizal. Why? Because it is WAYYYYY TOOOO UUUUGGGGLLLLYYYY AND DIIIRRRTTTYYY NOW! Visiting it will SURELY turn tourists' stomachs and sensibilities and they won't stand the awful smell and sight that they'd most probably plead with tourism authorities and Montalban officialdom to clean the place and make it worthy of an enjoyable visit in the future.... Another one worthy of recommendation to visit is the once-famous HINULUGANG TAKTAK of Antipolo, Rizal... for the same reason as I mentioned about Wawa Dam.... Both are vocal, concrete indictments of do-nothing town/city officials and tourist authorities!!!

Found a resort managed by a whole family in Romblon. Three grown sons selected a great diving spot? German Dad's German standards of efficiency? Filipina mom's good food & staff connections for good morale? Established 2009 so not shabby? Hope not to be disappointed comes November when we'll be doing the Philippines

The island-province of Batanes in Region 2 is a must-see! The island, including the idyllic Sabtang, can only be visited January to May, or outside the typhoon months, via a direct flight from Manila. A showcase of thick-walled bungalows with grass roofs dot the hillsides planted to onions, squash and sweet potatoes, the basic food of the islands. Have a cookout after the locals return from the sea with their catch for the day. Or organize a barbecue party at the beach in the morning right after the butchered cow is washed in the sea. You can also visit the farmers or hike from village to village and have a chance to stay, for a fee, with the natives. A limited edition Batanes holiday is an experience of a lifetime.
