Singapore residents weigh in on Filipino maids’ party

Video produced by Jason Domantay and Janie Octia of Yahoo! Southeast Asia.

A month ago, Filipino maids in Singapore were criticized for their 'Gulong gulong park' party in Singapore.

Every Sunday, Filipino maids gather to relax and socialize in the front area of the Ion Orchard Mall. They refer to the place as "Gulong Park." Right in front of it are stores showcasing high-end international brands. Some mall employees and shoppers complain that the presence of Filipino maids and workers lessen the prestige of the mall. There are also those who don't mind it at all.

Filipino workers also speak out about how foreigners—as well as an "unexpected" group of peoplereact to their weekly gathering.
