The ultimate hoop experience

This basketball crazy country is about to be rocked by a stellar cast of NBA stars.  By stellar we mean Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, and Kevin Durant kind of stellar, and then some.  This truly has all the ingredients of the ultimate hoop experience.

The MVP Sports Foundation (MVPSF) will be getting a boost in its effort to uplift Philippine Sports and develop Filipino athletes through this fund raising event.  With business tycoon and sports enthusiast Manny V. Pangilinan at the helm, the MVPSF is tasked to develop and support eight national sports — basketball, boxing, cycling, taekwondo, badminton, tennis, running and football — in the Philippines.

Through this 2 day blockbuster basketball affair which will be held on July 23 and 24 at the Araneta Coliseum, Filipino fans will get to see up close some of the biggest stars from the NBA.  Some are now seeing the upside of the lockout.

What makes it even better is that the NBA dream squad will be either facing or playing alongside an All Star Selection from the PBA, carefully chosen by the commissioner's office and also against the Smart Gilas Pilipinas national team.  Instead of sending the squad abroad for some tune up games, they decided to bring the NBA stars here.

There will be side events like a dunk contest and a three point shootout plus a lot of activities on and off the court that will give it an ALL STAR Weekend atmosphere, making it a truly an extraordinary experience.

The event is sponsored by MVPSF, Smart, Meralco, and official TV broadcaster TV5, in cooperation with Maynilad, MNTC, MPIC, and Philex Mining.
