MANILA, Philippines - Bonifacio Transport Corp. (BTC) recently acquired three new 37-seater Mercedes-Benz buses for Bonifacio Global City's (BGC) growing commuting public.

BGC's head of commercial operations Manny Blas II explained that the new buses would make commuting in BGC faster and more convenient. He revealed that with the additional buses, passenger's waiting time would be less than 10 minutes.

The steady surge of developments in BGC, brought about by its efforts to consistently maintain its standing as a premier mixed-use, contemporary urban hub, draw more people to the area; thus increasing the number of commuters. "It is essential then that BGC's public services and utilities, such as the transport system, be attuned to support this development," Blas added.

According to Jun Galvez, general manager of BTC, the latest acquisition brings to 19 the number of BTC-owned buses that operate 24/7 in BGC. Each bus can actually accommodate up to 90 passengers per trip.

BGC buses are currently servicing 36,000 passengers daily on weekdays and 20,000 on weekends.

It is BTC's third batch of Mercedes-Benz buses in their fleet.

Galvez said that the choice for the particular Mercedes-Benz bus was because of its adherence to specification on durability and comfort and safety to passengers. The buses also have LED display signs for easier determination of the destination route.

BGC buses ply the route from EDSA /Ayala to within BGC in Taguig City via McKinley Road.

BTC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. (FBDC), owner and management company of BGC.
