Iran pushes ahead with nuclear plant that worries West

By Fredrik Dahl VIENNA (Reuters) - Iran is pressing ahead with the construction of a research reactor that Western experts say could eventually produce plutonium for a nuclear weapon if Tehran decides to make one, a U.N. report showed on Wednesday. In another development likely to worry the United States and its allies, the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency said Iran had added to its capacity to refine uranium, which can also provide the fissile core of a bomb if enriched to a high level.

A Chinese national was one of two people arrested when drugs worth Aus$128 million (US$133 million) were seized in Sydney, Australian police said on Friday.

The bust on Thursday disrupted an international syndicate dealing in methamphetamines, known as ice, and cocaine in the city.

"Operation Fenway resulted in the seizure of approximately 40 kilograms (88 pounds) of ice with a street value of about $128 million, as well as half a kilogram of cocaine and approximately $2.6 million in cash," police said.

Two people were arrested -- a 54-year-old Chinese national and a 47-year-old Australian man -- after they were caught allegedly doing a deal in a public car park.

They were due to face court later Friday charged with supplying large commercial quantities of prohibited drugs.

Assistant Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said the bust would make a significant impact on the ice trade, with the seizure accounting for approximately 1.3 million street deals.

"It is a very significant seizure in terms of the reduction in harm that that can lead to," he said.

A gnome grows in Chelsea - at the flower show, that is

By Paul Casciato LONDON (Reuters) - Some spectators at London's Chelsea Flower Show wouldn't be caught dead with one in the trunk of their Bentley, but garden gnomes have turned up at the show's 100th edition this year, for charity. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), which runs Chelsea in the grounds of the Christopher Wren-built Royal Hospital Chelsea, has lifted a ban on the ceramic figures with floppy hats and beards in order to raise funds for an RHS charity that supports the use of

By Jonathan Kaminsky OLYMPIA, Washington (Reuters) - With Washington state about to embark on a first-of-its-kind legal market for recreational marijuana, the budding ranks of new cannabis growers face a quandary over what to do with the excess stems, roots and leaves from their plants.
