Death certificate: Houston to be buried in NJ

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Whitney Houston's death certificate shows she will be buried in the same cemetery where her father was laid to rest.

The document was filed Wednesday with the Los Angeles County Department of Health in California. It does not list a cause of death.

It lists the manner of death as "pending investigation," with the immediate cause of death listed as "deferred."

Houston will be buried Saturday in Fair View Cemetery in Westfield, N.J. Her father, John Russell Houston Jr., was buried there in 2003.

When I was younger, I use to party alot. I used to drink like a wild man....my mother begged me to stop before I got myself killed. I remember her crying one night, telling me that she believed that if I didn't stop, that I was going to die. Then I met a wonderful lady, I didn't stop drinking and this wonderful person was on her way out of the relationship..A month later, this beautiful person told me that she was pregnant with my baby. I made a decision that day. I either had to give up partying or give up a family. I haven't had a drink or anything for over 12 years now. My son is almost 12 years old. I married this wonderful woman and we have additional children and I wouldn't change it for the world !

Whitney could have quit and should have quit...If not for herself, for her family. My heart goes out to, Not only Whitney and her family...but to all other families as well who has lost a loved one due to the addiction of drugs and/or alcohol. God Bless Everyone Of Us !

Her life began in NJ so it's fitting she should be buried with/near her father. Did her downfall begin with Bobby Brown? Perhaps....but she made the decision to do the drugs and alcohol....she should have watched her interview with Oprah at time of MJ's death a couple more times.....Bobby might not be a nice person but he was not cause of Whitney's decline and demise....responsibility remains with each one of us........my thoughts are for her daughter....so young and so many 'heavy' things to have lived thru and yet to face.....I hope she has the strength to make good decisions for herself as time continues.

i think it is disgraceful that gov. christie is having the flags at half mast on friday. when one of our nj veterans gets killed he does nothing. i have the utmost sympathy for the family of whitney houston but does she deserve the honor of a flag at half mast?

I think it's time to let her truly rest in peace. Never knew her personally but I'm grateful for the legacy she left behind.

Are you referring to her legacy of self-indulgence and self-absorption?

I agree with Carol, just like Michael Jackson, Whitney ultimately chose to do the drugs! It's sad but true! The press wants to blame Bobby, whose no "role model', but, from all reports, Whitney appeared to be a strong willed person, who wasn't pushed around easily. I'm just praying for her Mom and daughter.

Why do we go"Wow", when an entertainer, athlete dies???? They are no different than you and me. They got into the limelite because of us but they were no different than you or me. They put their pants on the same as us and everyday things as us. I'm sorry about Whitney, she had the most amazing voice. BUT she chose drugs and she had enough money (unlike alot of people) to seek help and she chose not to.

Sorry, to burst your bubble Gayle, but celebrities ARE different than you and me.

she was a very talented singer, whether drugs killed her or not, I don,t know, I,m a small time musician in Detroit, Mi, I play the guitar and sing pretty well, a lot of people who heard me in clubs would run up to me and say Man, you are really good, let me buy you a drink or hit this joint, I would tell them thanks for enjoying my music, but no thanks to the alcohol and Mary J, said all of this to say, it,s a person,s choice to do whatever they do.

You are a strong person Larry, I always say no to drugs hardly drink and don't smoke and when someone gave me a dirty look for saying no I would tell them "You wanna kill yourself? go for it, but I am not joining you"

For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Including people who have nothing better to do than speak ill of the dead. Just because a person is rich and famous does not mean that they don't have the same inner demons as the rest of us. Instead of judging another human being on their faults and downfall, maybe you should spend a little time thanking the Heavenly Father that you are strong enough to handle your problems without turning to drugs or alcohol.

I live near the cemetary. I will be going soon after she is laid to rest to go pay my respects. I only wish I were going upstate to the Prudential Center or NJPAC to see her perform instead.

I had heard that she had a drug problem before she even met Bobby Brown...doesn't matter...she evidently didn't have the right people around her to help her beat her addictions..It is sad but life does go on. God be with her daughter and her mother.

Enough already! Yes, she was a fabulously talented person and she shared her talent with the world. And she made a fabulous amount of money from her talent! And all that talent and money brought her nothing but misery and drugs and an early death! She may have been a "good" person but her inability to deal with her addiction should not turn her into a martyr! We all have demons and depression and stress and on and on and on to deal with. It's just that we mere mortals don't have the money to sniff it up our nose to feel good about ourselves. We go to school, get jobs, raise families and do the very best we can and thank God everyday for the blessings in our lives! Too bad Whitney couldn't be thankful for her beauty, voice, family and her now motherless daughter! Let her rest in peace along with all the other "celebrities" who have taken the same path and let us, the mere mortals, be spared from endless snippets about her greatness and her weaknesses and her death, ad nauseum! She's dead. It's sad! Life goes on!

She had talent, fame, looks, the adulation of millions, wealth and a fantastic career but she fell short of her full potential, and that’s sad. Even so, she achieved so much and was one of the best, which says so much for her gift, her voice...... I will always love you and RIP.

Why blame anyone now, we knew she had a problem and fingers should have been pointed then and something should have been done. Its to late now and nothing is going to bring Whitney back, let Whitney rest in peace and let her family have the time they need. Let us remember Whitney as we remember her, a angel with a voice that could make us feel what she was singing. RIP Whitney, you will be forever missed but never forgotten.

i am not cold hearted, it is sad but it is also sad when a celebrity dies of an overdose they always want to blame it on some body for murder not on the person who did the drugs. sure a doctor prescribed them but did not force her to take them, they need to go and get the person who got her started on drugs which was probably her ex. how many regular people O. D. everyday and they never go after anybody. once again it is very sad.

ok there are millions of drug addicted people in the world. whitney houston was just one. i really wish people would stop saying how tragic it is. the woman had life by the #$%$ and threw it away boo hoo who cares it happens everyday to "no name" people i dont hear everyone crying for them. or their drug addicted babies. really why should you care about her anyway just because she sang pretty? she didnt help you out with all her millions
