  • MYMP reaches crossroad, Juris bids adieu

Manila Bulletin - Thursday, November 5

Juris Fernandez and Chin Alcantara, prime movers behind the popular acoustic group Make Your Momma Proud or MYMP, finally confirmed the dissolution of their partnership.

The group made the official announcement via an email sent to Manila Bulletin Entertainment Online through their manager Carla Lozada.

According to the duo, they have decided to part ways due to "irreconcilable professional differences."

The letter revealed Fernandez's plan of going solo, having already signed a one-album deal with Star Records.

Alcantara is planning to continue with MYMP and is looking for a new partner.

Rumors about the duo's parting made inroads middle of this year when Fernandez started appearing by her lonesome in an "ASAP '09"'segment which has her singing with other solo artists including Richard Poon and Aiza Seguerra.

A newspaper ran a story on the matter last week, after the band failed to attend the first-ever Philippine Movie Press Club Music Awards in which the group won for Best duo/group.

That said, the band kept silent until now.

Their joint statement reads as follows:

"We have come to this difficult decision after a period of discernment and deliberation.

  • Inside Martin Nievera's crib

Manila Bulletin - Thursday, November 5

For the first time, Concert King Martin Nievera has granted the public a peek into his three story house via "Showbiz News Ngayon."

The singer himself hosted the tour, proudly showing off his antique items, which he said, came from his mom Conchita's collection.

Martin also paraded a collection of footages from his concerts, as well as a plethora of shoes and clothes in his wardrobe room.

He then let the staff view his gym area and master's bedroom, followed by a look in his bathroom which, he said, resembles that of his ex-wife Pops Fernandez's whose house is just a stone's throw away from his.

There's also the sunset deck which he "no longer enjoys" because the view has already been obstructed by another house.

    "Noon, wala pang bahay.

  • An Hermes bag for Angelica

Manila Bulletin - Thursday, November 5

After giving girlfriend Angelica Panganiban a Mini Cooper for an anniversary gift, Derek Ramsay now follows up with another "dream come true" present.

At Angelica's surprise birthday party organized by her close friends and some relatives, Derek surprised the actress by giving her an orange Hermes bag -- apparently one of the celebrant's most ardent wish.

So, how did Derek figure out what she wanted to receive for her birthday?

According to Angelica, it was she who unwittingly informed the actor.

"Nagtatanong na siya, matagal na, kung ano ang gusto kong gift."

Derek, who connived with their friends to keep it a secret until the last minute, had a ready script which he acted out at the party venue.

    Angelica said.

  • Robin Padilla still mum on rumored move to ABS-CBN

Manila Bulletin - Wednesday, November 4

While already shooting for ABS-CBN's film arm, Star Cinema, action star Robin Padilla still won't confirm nor deny whispers that he is thinking of bolting GMA-7.

Padilla masterfully evaded questions alluding to the rumor at a recent interview.

"Let me do this [film] first," he said in Filipino.

His manager Betchay Vidanes was nonetheless vocal in denying the gossip during a separate interview.

    "It's not true," she remarked.

Vidanes claimed her camp is still in the thick of negotiations with GMA-7.

    "Nothing definite yet," she insisted.

The tattle on Padilla's supposed transfer began after "Totoy Bato," his most recent TV series with GMA-7, folded early this year with the show's creative team expressing frustration over working with the actor.

Head writer Suzette Doctolero gave interviews to confirm how Padilla seemingly "disregarded their efforts" in his bid to "control" the production.

Vidanes rebuked this, arguing that Padilla's exertions, which were meant to improve the show, had the consent of senior production manager Redgie Magno.

The issue almost died down-that is, until Padilla's acceptance of the film offer from Star Cinema fanned the issue into becoming a hot topic anew.

Padilla hinted on a seeming reluctance to discuss projects with the Kapuso network, citing a recent meeting with Wilma Galvante, the network's senior vice president for entertainment.

"We didn't discuss anything...[Galvante] is good.
