(UPDATE) Classes are suspended in several areas in Metro Manila due to the rains, TV and radio reports say.
Classes from pre-school to high school were suspended in Quezon City, Marikina, San Juan and Mandaluyong City. Meanwhile, classes were suspended in public pre-school to high school levels in Pasay City.
According to a DZMM report, afternoon classes in the cities of Makati, Manila, and Malabon are suspended. Classes have also been suspended in Navotas.
Navotas Polytechnic College, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, and De La Salle University, and UP Manila have declared classes suspended. Afternoon classes are also suspended in Letran, Mapua Institute of Technology, DLSU-College of St. Benilde, Adamson University, and Eulogio "Amang" Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology.
Ateneo de Manila University has also cancelled classes at the elementary and high school levels.
The rains brought by the southwest monsoon also caused the waters at the Manila Bay in Roxas Boulevard to spill over onto the streets, causing major traffic jam, radio dzBB reported.
Provinces cancel classes
Classes in all private and public pre- to high school levels were also suspended in Obando, Bocaue, Sta.Elena, Marilao, and Meycauayan towns in Bulacan.
DZMM also reported class suspensions in Rodriguez and San Mateo in Rizal and Guagua in Pampanga. Classes have likewise been suspended in Tanza, Naic, and Imus in Cavite. Classes have also been suspended in Olongapo City and in Benguet.
While others let go of burdens in an attempt to fly, it was by taking on more challenges that a young Filipino cadet soared from the shadow he had been under.
