Jeremy Lin makes privacy plea for Taiwan relatives

National Basketball Association star Jeremy Lin made a public plea for reporters in Taiwan to respect the privacy of his family members there.

Lin's fairy-tale run, and the media storm that has accompanied it, has had an affect on those in his ancestral homelands.

The US-born Lin is the son of Taiwanese immigrants and his maternal grandmother is from mainland China.

"One special request I have is for the media in Taiwan to kind of give them their space because they can't go to work without being bombarded and people following them," said Lin, following the Knicks 104-97 win over defending NBA champion Dallas on Sunday.

"I just want people to respect the privacy of my relatives in Taiwan. Hopefully this will get back to everybody because they need to live their lives."

Lin also talked about an apology he received from US broadcasting giant ESPN which posted an anti-Asian slur in a headline on its mobile website following Friday's Knicks game.

"ESPN has apologized," Lin said. "I don't think it was on purpose. From my end, I don't care anymore. You have to learn to forgive. I don't even think that was intentional. Hopefully not."

Jeremy, you & your family should think about migrating to a place that you will not be hunted down by those hungry reporters. They are scavengers by nature

Former US president George Bush said "you can run, but you cannot hide"

It is very true. The world has been populated by the white people when the Chinese civilization lost to Western civilzation miserably in the 19 century. There is no where for the yellow peril can hide. Your descendent will enjoy the fruit when the Chinese civilization get better of the west in their 3rd encounter after 21st century.

Meanwhilte stop your disparaging slur you hurl at your Chinese cousins from China first.

Those scavenging Taiawan reporters are just greedy. This is what I call check-book journalism. Trying to get stories where-ever they can, whip it up and make money.

Of couse! no body will notice him. He would be just one of the dead meat roaming the street of Singapore. The sport management in Singapore will only use the player to glorify themself.

For example, when the football team win. Their management will celebrate and credit themself for deploying superb game strategies. When the team lost, the management will blame the players for not up to standard. That why Singaore football get no where.

It will make a difference for what the Taiwan reporters did. Did they self-deprecate and self-abnegate to try to gain acceptance by the white or by the ruthless Japanese. I think Taiwan would like to association with Japan more than the descendent of their ancestor. There is a saying, respect yourself first before other respect you.

Jeremy, sorry...fame and fortune doesn't come without a price. Reporters will go where the story is. Anyway, it's the people who buy the newspapers and click on the online media who are ultimately responsible. The reports won't hound people no one is interested in.

Harvard graduate ? Many years back, Harvard students must be born again Christian and must memorise Romans 8 of hte Bible as part of their syallbus. Now it's scraped. America not more " in God I trust" but "in Gold $ I trust". It has deteriorated since and the US$ is becoming valueless as the days passed.
