
TNW is hearing that JP Morgan is about to invest “upwards of $50 million” in Lazada, the Southeast Asia-oriented e-commerce venture from Germany’s Rocket Internet. The details will be revealed, apparently, later this month. Lazada operates in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
JP Morgan seems to love Rocket Internet’s “clones” which are popping up all over the world, modeled closely on established sites such as Amazon - but with lots of localizations.
