Kate Upton ignores Victoria’s Secret snub

Kate Upton is fine with seemingly rude comments made about her by a Victoria’s Secret casting agent because they weren’t “that mean”.

The model has shot into the limelight recently after landing the coveted cover of this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

After the announcement was made, many places ran features on what it would mean for Kate’s career.

She has previously modelled for Victoria’s Secret but has never strutted her stuff in their annual fashion show, and Secret’s casting director Sophia Neophitou insisted that would never change.

“We would never use [her],” Sophia told New York Times. “She’s like a Page 3 girl [topless models featured in UK tabloid The Sun]. She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.”

Although the comments were seemingly damning, Kate hasn’t taken them that way.

“[It’s] is fine, because I didn’t even try out for their runway show,” she told Access Hollywood.

“I don’t think anything she said is that mean. She wanted to out go and buy my face, that’s fine, go buy it! I didn’t.

“I’m doing fine in my career. I don’t need to walk down their runway.”

Kate added she’s happy to be called a “footballer’s wife”, as Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen is in that “category”. Gisele is married to New England Patriots star Tom Brady.

However, it’s thought Sophia was referring to the spouses of soccer players, who have a reputation for being gaudy.

Kate didn’t give the comments too much time though, preferring to focus on why her voluptuous figure sends out a positive message to women.

“I love my curves. You know, I'm healthy and I think that's what Sports Illustrated represents: healthy, confident women who love their bodies,” she said.
