MANILA, Philippines -- Top 6 finalist Kedebon Colim was booted out of "The X Factor Philippines" on Sunday ending a long run marked with pronounced disapproval from many of the show's viewers.
The controversial Colim found himself in the bottom two Saturday that led to a showdown between him and vocal group, Daddy's Home.
Daddy's Home performed Stevie Wonder's "Lately" and Colim chose Enrique Iglesias' "Hero" for their "survival" songs.
Colim got the short end of the stick with majority of the judges---Pilita Corrales, Gary Valenciano and Colim's mentor Martin Nievera---opting to save Daddy's Home.
Before voting, Nievera said, "I admire you Kedebon, you're my hero. Your fans will be with you till the day you die. Don't ever lose your spirit."
Colim was magnanimous in defeat.
"First of all, I want to thank my God. Top 6, grabe hindi ako makapaniwala. Sobrang na-prove ko na nothing is impossible talaga. I really thank sa mga sumusuporta sa akin at bumoboto. Hindi talaga ako makapaniwala na binoboto niyo ako," he said.
"Kedebon, ang dami mong fans dito. Everybody loves you," said Nievera.
The singer then looked straight into the camera and addressed Colim's bashers, thus: "Shame on you."
Colim's exit was among the most discussed topics on social media Sunday, with "Bye Kedebon" eventually trending on Twitter.
"Sa wakas," one Twitter user said.
"Bye Kedebon. Best. Decision. Ever," said another.
"Bye Kedebon. Grabe naiiyak ako. TEARS OF JOY! Hahaha," said yet another.
But there were also people who were sad to see him go, among them fellow contestants Allen Sta. Maria, Jeric Medina and KZ Tandingan who shed tears as the verdict was announced.
