Lights, camera and a hand from Kollywood

Kuala Lumpur (The Star/ANN) - The multi-million dollar South Indian film industry, better known as Kollywood, is set to lend a helping hand to the local Tamil film industry by sharing its technical expertise as well as talent.

The cooperation would also increase the exposure of Malaysian-made Tamil films to South Indian audience and provide a much-needed boost to the local Tamil film industry, said the South Indian Film Artistes Association or Nadigar Sangam.

Its treasurer, veteran actor "Vagai" Chandrasekar, said the association was prepared to assist the local film industry by marketing local productions there.

"We are prepared to bring Malaysian Tamil movies into our country and do what we can to assist them.

"There is a lot of talent here," he said at the MIC headquarters here yesterday.

He suggested that local productions hire supporting actors and technical crew from Kollywood as the movies would then have better business in both countries.

"It will be easier for the Indian audience to accept films with familiar faces and names," he said, adding that Kollywood was looking forward to casting Malaysian talents in its films.
