Malaysia Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A380, becoming the eighth airline in the world to operate the 'superjumbo'.
The plane, set to go into service July 2, will fly a non-stop route between Kuala Lumpur and London Heathrow and will be among a total of six A380s planned to be flown by the airline.
It includes economy seats on both decks, along with lie-flat first class seats on the lower deck and lie-flat business class seats on the upper deck.
Controversially, the airline is believed to have issued guidance that will restrict families with young children to the lower deck, in a bid to ensure a more peaceful flight on the upper deck for those wishing to sleep.
Although Malaysia Airlines opted not to include the audacious shower included on the Emirates A380, the art gallery aboard Air France's or the private suites offered by Singapore Airlines, it has chosen to differentiate on seat comfort.
The first class seats will be five inches wider than those of Singapore Airlines, according to reports, while the seat pitch will be wider than those of both Singapore Airlines and Emirates.
All seats will come with power supplies, USB ports and 10.6-inch widescreen entertainment systems, rising to 17 inches in business class and 23 inches in first class.
Malaysia Airlines joins an elite club of A380 operators, including Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Air France, Lufthansa, Qantas and China Southern -- Thai Airlines will also begin operations later this year.
