DAVAO City Sara Duterte-Carpio is taking full responsibility for the killing of a nurse. But along with her, she is taking the Davao City Police Office director to task as well.
"We take, along with the director of the Davao police director, full responsibility on what had happened," Duterte-Carpio said, adding that authorities are doing everything they can do find the whereabouts of the perpetrators.
The mayor issued the statement with regards the death of Marjorie Kwan, 23, a registered nurse, who was held up by motorcycle-riding men at around 11:30 a.m. along Paciano Bangoy, Saturday.
Kwan was shot four times in different parts of her body when she resisted to yield her bag, causing her death.
Duterte-Carpio admitted that the robbery by men riding in tandem on a motorcycle is not the first time it happened here and that authorities must look into this crime seriously.
"Pero dili pud nato kalimtan ang effort sa mga pulis sa pagbantay sa kalinaw sa Dabaw (But we should not forget the effort of the police in keeping the peace and order in the city)," Duterte-Carpio said.
Duterte said the city will remain firm to its tourism slogan that life is here in Davao City.
Meanwhile, Davao City Police Office as of this writing, has not yet apprehended the suspects of the crime, which has generated a lot of comments and became viral in social networking sites among Davao residents.
Police officers earlier said they already have initial suspects adding that they are confident to track them down soon.
