An Hermes bag for Angelica

After giving girlfriend Angelica Panganiban a Mini Cooper for an anniversary gift, Derek Ramsay now follows up with another "dream come true" present.

At Angelica's surprise birthday party organized by her close friends and some relatives, Derek surprised the actress by giving her an orange Hermes bag -- apparently one of the celebrant's most ardent wish.

So, how did Derek figure out what she wanted to receive for her birthday?

According to Angelica, it was she who unwittingly informed the actor.

"Nagtatanong na siya, matagal na, kung ano ang gusto kong gift."

Derek, who connived with their friends to keep it a secret until the last minute, had a ready script which he acted out at the party venue.

Angelica said: "Sa party, sabi niya 'Ganda ng bag mo, ha!' kasi nga may dala akong bag. [Tapos] sabi niya, 'Mas maganda 'yung dala kong bag!' [and then] pinakita niya sa akin.

"Inaasar pa nga nila ako na binebenta sa akin 'yong bag. Tapos naiyak na ako. Happy ako talaga," an overjoyed Angelica shared.

Angelica admits she did not see herself owning the expensive item this early.

"Feeling ko, magkaka-Hermes ako 'pag sobrang tanda ko na, mga 45 na ako or 60 na ako. Hindi ko akalain na 23 pa lang ako, magkaka-Hermes na ako."

Derek shared how he finally arrived at a decision to give Angelica the Hermes bag.

"She likes bags [so I had a running argument with myself] 'Ito, magugustuhan ito ni Angel...ito, kunin mo na 'yan...sandali, Hermes 'yan...teka, mahal 'yon. ..pero iyon lang 'yong bag na swak kay Angel.'

"Tulad ng Mini Cooper: Nu'ng nakita ko ang Mini Cooper, sabi ko 'It's for Angel.' Sa dami ng bag na nakita ko, 'yung dinampot ko, [alam ko na] yun [na] 'yon."

The Cooper and the Hermes bag aren't the only expensive gifts that Derek has lavished on his girlfriend. For one of their anniversaries, the actor took Angelica to an exclusive resort. Soon, he'll bring Angelica to South Africa for a short vacation.

Angelica revealed on "Showbiz News Ngayon" that she wasn't actually planning to hold a birthday party.

"Wala nga akong plano talaga. 'Yong mga friends ko, niyaya lang akong mag-dinner. Sumama ako sa mga friends ko pero parang ayoko talagang sumama. 'Sige, hatid mo na lang kami sa bar na 'to,' sabi nila.

[Tapos] nagulat [na lang] ako [kasi] pagdating ko doon, nandoon na sila."
