You’ve seen the dresses (AKA the Prada takeover – hello, Carey Mulligan, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Bosworth) and the behind-the-scenes snaps, courtesy of the excited celebrity guests’ Twitter feed but just what really happens to all those ensembles post-Met Ball?

Grazia HQ’s favourite pieces had to be Carey’s sultry sci-fi Prada dress, Jessica Alba’s gorgeous Grecian goddess Michael Kors gown and Emma Stone’s beyond adorable red Lanvin number and now, we’ve just caught word that Ms. Mulligan has put her Gala dress on eBay. Squeal! With all proceeds going to Oxfam America, Carey put her dress up for auction last night at a very reasonable starting price of $500. The auction closes on Saturday May 19 and will be delivered to the highest bidder by June 11. When we published this story online, Carey’s Prada Silver and Gold Metal Pailettes dress was up for $1,025… Eight days left, people.

Also, if you’ve ever wondered just how these lovely ladies get out of their huge dresses at the end of the night, Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev may just have the answer after revealing on the 'The Conan O'Brien Show' last night that she had to be cut out of her Donna Karan Atelier gown so that she could er, pee. And, because Nina’s dress was made from actual vintage gold metal, the starlet had to be sewn into the gown just before heading to the Met Gala and had to call someone from Donna Karan's team to release her out of her dress every time she needed the toilet and then sew her back into it using an emergency sewing kit. Now, that's dress dedication!
