Milan Fashion Week: Alberta Ferretti to unveil new sunglasses line

Italian creator Alberta Ferretti has announced the launch of a new sunglasses line, set to be unveiled during her Fall 2012 runway show at the upcoming Milan Fashion Week.

The line, including six acetate styles, will be unveiled at the February 22 presentation, with WWD reporting February 13 that the sunglasses will include clean, linear shapes adorned with handmade decorations.

The collection is part of a licensing deal with London-based luxury eyewear brand Cutler and Gross, with the shades set to go on sale at Alberta Ferretti flagships across the globe and Cutler and Gross boutiques.

Ferretti, who collaborated with manufacturer Elite Group SpA on eyewear back in 2008, is the latest creator to announce a foray into glasses, following hot on the heels of jewelry creator Alexis Bittar, who earlier this month revealed plans to launch eyewear in 2013.

Meanwhile, Italian fashion house Prada has been causing a buzz with its new video promoting its first folding sunglasses, which are currently available in all Prada stores and exclusive eyewear retailers.

Directed by Giuliano Federico and Marco Braga of Milan-based studio Modecracy, the "Prada Presents Folding in Love" video follows the glasses though a simulated videogame. Watch it here; http://youtu.be/fI1XkRCs1k4
