THE Provincial Board (PB) of Misamis Oriental passed a resolution authorizing Governor Oscar Moreno to enter into a contract with Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) for the Global Budget Payment Program (GBPP).

It was the PB’s committee on finance, budget and appropriation that recommended the resolution after thorough deliberation.

The GBPP is a prospective provider payment scheme wherein PhilHealth reimbursements are given to the provider even before actual services are rendered and corresponding expenses incurred.

The program reportedly eliminates waiting time for PhilHealth reimbursements and allows investments for improvement of facilities and services.

The request was made by Dr. Ma. Lourdes Gaane, head of the Misamis Oriental Provincial Health Insurance Office.

Under the resolution, Moreno has given the authority to open a trust fund and sign for the GBPP account in an authorized government bank. Annabelle L. Ricalde
