Use 'It's More Fun' slogan to promote PH tourism—DOT

    By Nikka Garriga

MANILA CITY, METRO MANILA—Members of the tourism sector are told to use the Department of Tourism (DoT)'s  new tourism campaign for marketing materials in both print, broadcast and social media.

This includes the application of the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” for international audiences and “1ForFunPhilippines” for the local public in information resources like brochures, posters, billboards, websites and all other applicable materials often communicated.

Photographs that will carry the slogans must have a positive message.

Tourism-related businesses are encouraged to train and brief their employees to be more cordial and to offer a fun-filled experience for visitors.

During the campaign’s launch, DOT chief Ramon Jimenez called on all Filipinos to help spread the word in an effort to boost the country’s promising tourism industry.

“The national line is a goal, a constant reminder to ourselves why we can tell travelers it’s more fun here than anywhere else. It needs everyone’s support for it to stay true—we need to make sure people’s experiences in our country are positive, enjoyable and most of all, fun,” Jimenez explained.

The agency has raised its tourism target from a record-breaking 3.9 million in 2011 to 4.2 million this year.

It's really fun to arrive at Manila Airport and wait in line for 45 minutes to get through immigration and then have the taxi driver tell you he can't use his meter cos it's rush hour and 'evey traffik'.

I experienced it too, but it doesn't mean that all Filipinos are that kind of people.I TRAVEL A LOT, THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOUR EXIST IN SOME OTHER COUNTRIES FOR EXAMPLE, HOLLAND AND THE FAMOUS SWITZERLAND AND ETC..SO DON'T BELITTLE YOUR VERY OWN COUNTRY.MY YOUNGER BROTHER TRAVELLED THIS BELOVED COUNTRY OF MINE FROM SOUTHERN MOST PART OF THE PHILIPPINES TO THE NORTHERN MOST PART OF LUZON BY MOTORCYCLE AND HE WAS SO AMAZED HOW HELPFUL THE PEOPLE WERE TO THE POINT OF PAYING THIER OWN GAS TO HELP HIM FIND THE PLACE.HE WILL NEVER FORGET THOSE PEOPLE IN MINDORO.

Fix the airport first if you are going to invite tourists to our country. How embarrassing to be ranked #2 world's worst airport! As they say, first impressions last. If you are going to have an airport that is ugly with horrible bathrooms, no restaurants or bookstores, and crawling with corrupt people who keep asking for money left and right, then the tourists might as well turn around and go back to where they came from!

Why don't they fix it up?

fix the airport is the first step. second is to to clean up the entire greater manila area.

Filipinos are Finominal. As far as the promotion of tourism is concerned, I have one very topical question for President Aquino, whom I admire for his pursuits of transparency: Why do you spend so much money, time and effort (physical and mental) to entice and lure a tourist here and then require that he leave after only 20 days or even after 16 months with his maximum visa extensions? If your purpose in tourism is to bring foreign para to these shores, then why don't you allow tourists to stay here as long as they have money to spend and as long as they are civilly obedient? Huh? Can you please tell this tourist why are you making me leave when all I want is to stay here and spend my money (US dollars)? What if I like it better wherever I go or what if my plane crashes in the sea? Then your tourism efforts get nothing. So please, can you tell me why are you asking me, a tourist, to leave?

you're so freaking stupid. why do you waste your money and energy in that country when you could vacay in other countries...way safer, cheaper and even more fun than in philippines?
      • DON QUIXOTE 3 months ago
have you heard about visa extension?... philippines gives you 20 days..yet other countries only gives you 8-14 days.... but still that can be extended..so as in the philippines.
      • Clear Eyes 3 months ago
Don, as i mentioned, the max on extensions is 16 months. DOI then asks you to leave the country.

It is really FUN in the Philippines. There are kidnaFUN, carnaFUN, and holdaFUN but as long as you stay away in the bigger cities, it'll be alright. Palawan is supposed to be a very nice place to visit.

No offense but for me it attracts foreign people to exploit our young women especially in boracay... "ITS MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES" for me and my opinion it encourage those pedos to exploit our women and young men ....so I disagree on this slogan...

ITS MORE FUN to have XXXXXX with young girls in PHILIPPINES...thats pathetic slogan
    • rommel  •  Manila, National Capital Region  •  3 months ago
non-sense ang pagtulong ng tao sa DOT kung walang pagbabago sa mga facilities natin, especially airport personnels, kung kapwa pilipino natin nagrereklamo sa mga tiwaling airport officials how much more pa yung tourists na dumarating

what do you think they will share if they experienced bad things like having an encounter with that kind of personnels
    • Semaj S  •  3 months ago
I hate to say it but this idiotic slogan is here to stay. Jimenez, who is a friend of Noynoy and once an advertising agency owner, stole the 1951 ripoff from Switzerland. Not the ad agency BBDO the DOT hired. BBDO is more informed and ethical than to suggest something so insignificant and not specific to the Philippines.

It's more FUN in the Philippines if you use Comfort Room in MRT stations so kadiri at napaka baho. mahiya kayo mga nasa MRT stations asan ang mga binabayad namin sainyo kasin pangit nyo ang mga CR nyo mga peste kayo bayan natin.
