The release of Chicosci's latest album "Fly Black Hearts" is deemed by some as ill-timed considering the shifting trend in music, but the band takes such talks with a grain of salt.
"Pop stars will always rule mainstream media pero sa gigs mo makikita ang suporta ng tao sa mga tulad namin," said they during the "Fly Black Hearts" party and album launch held at Eastwood Central Plaza on Nov. 7.
Asked if they would watch a concert by such artists as Lady Gaga, a Chicosci member retorted, "Hell, yeah."
"Pop fans kami---we have no problem with pop," another member rejoined.
"We know how the business works, and it's cool.

With evening wear as genteel as the show's setting, Monique Lhuillier's Spring-Summer 2010 collection at Christie's auction house drew the usual accolades for faultless taste.
Far from the atmospherics of Bryant Park, the stiller environs framed Lhuillier's impeccably elegant gowns with a befitting hush, like the instructive quiet surrounding the objets d'art one passed on the way up.
And, like beautiful, decorative pieces, Lhuillier's goddess gowns and cocktail dresses were terrifically covetable and lingered in the mind.

If there's a song that loudly declares the effect of rock icon Ely Buendia on Pinoy pop culture, it's the track that graced the new album of four-piece band Soapdish called "Goodluck.. Goodbye." The song is titled "Parang Si Ely Buendia," a number inspired by someone's obsession for the former Eraserheads frontman or to be more precise the defined image he created for rockstar wannabes.
Penned by vocalist Jeff Bolivar, the wittily titled song is easily the catchiest piece in the 12-track venture from Viva Records.

After giving girlfriend Angelica Panganiban a Mini Cooper for an anniversary gift, Derek Ramsay now follows up with another "dream come true" present.
At Angelica's surprise birthday party organized by her close friends and some relatives, Derek surprised the actress by giving her an orange Hermes bag -- apparently one of the celebrant's most ardent wish.
So, how did Derek figure out what she wanted to receive for her birthday?
According to Angelica, it was she who unwittingly informed the actor.
"Nagtatanong na siya, matagal na, kung ano ang gusto kong gift."
Derek, who connived with their friends to keep it a secret until the last minute, had a ready script which he acted out at the party venue.
Angelica said.
