After retiring, the White Mamba given own highlight reel

A few days after Brian “The White Mamba” Scalabrine announced his retirement, the NBA decided to honor the popular forward by releasing a two-minute highlight reel video which featured the red-haired fan favorite’s memorable moments accumulated throughout the course of his 11-year career.

“The Ultimate Brian Scalabrine Highlight Video” debuted on YouTube on Tuesday, and in less than 24 hours had already garnered over 1,300 comments.

Scalabrine played for the New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls, averaging 3.1 points in 520 regular-season games. These are obviously far from being eye-popping stats, but Scal’s career was more about being a fan favorite. And he was a certified fan favorite wherever he went, most notably in Boston, where he spent five seasons and won a championship ring in 2008.

The 2001 second-round draft pick will return to Boston to try his hand in sportscasting, after turning down an offer from the bulls to serve as an assistant coach. He is slated to do three preseason games and eight regular-season games for the Celtics, and may also do some studio work.

For all Scal fans out there, enjoy!
