Philippines gets world's largest Ten Commandments

A building-sized edifice carved with the Bible's Ten Commandments was unveiled Wednesday in the Philippines, making it the largest tablet of its kind, according to Guinness World Records.

The tablet, a copy of the rules supposedly handed down by God to Moses on Mount Sinai, was inaugurated by city officials on a hill overlooking the northern resort city of Baguio.

A local religious group, donated the imposing 152.90 square metre (1,650 square foot) tablet to the city as they were presented a certificate from Guinness World Records.

"This beautiful and divine edifice will serve to drive away the evils of spirits that time and again emerge," said Baguio Congressman Bernardo Vergara at the inauguration.

"May it drive away evils of illegal drugs, gambling, prostitution."

The religious leader who sponsored the project, Grace Galindez-Gupana, topped her previous world record, attained in 2009 when she built a similar 65-square-metre tablet on a hill outside Manila.

HOW TRUE! AND TO THINK THE CHINESE STILL WANT TO COME TO THE PHILIPPINES AND FOR WHAT?

Wala na talagang alam ang Pinoy na pasukin kundi mga maliliit na bagay gaya nito dahil hindi niya kaya 'yung mga mahahalaga at importanteng labanan. Hanggang Octoberfest at texting capital of the world na lang ba tayo? Mga bagay na walang significance. Bakit 'di pangarapin ng Pinoy to have the best university in the world, best airport, o noble awards, etc. Gumawa tayo ng Apple, Samsung, Kia, Acer, Hyundai, Proton, Chery.

puro biggest na lang ba? susunod jan biggest pandesal bwahahaha
      • KunimitzuT 6 months ago
@ tuko : so what's wrong with 'biggest pandesal'? i'd rather have that than this silly 10 commandments edifice. at least that pandesal will feed a lot of people (assuming it is indeed very big)...

Pilipino talaga. kaya walang pagbabago kasi mas nakikita yung mali kaysa mabuti.

Guys show your kindness despite of differences. We cannot simply invite them if that's the way we criticize their beliefs. Like apostles did, be patient and sober taking care of them. God has many sheep in the world that should be brought to one place. You knew it most because you learned the truth.

      Ezekiel 34:4-6 NIV
4 You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally. 5 So they were scattered because there was no shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild animals. 6 My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. They were scattered over the whole earth, and no one searched or looked for them.

You are right Brod. And this time we will start to look for them and care for them. All of us Christians are duty bound by our God the Father thru His Son Jesus Christ to share with them the blessings of Salvation, that we had experienced. So be it.

The word of God does not teach us to be nice. But to rebuke what is wrong and to tell it like it is within the word of God. The definition 'nice' in this situation means that a person does not know nothing. Being 'nice' as you describe can only buy a cup of cold coffee and nothing else.

      Deuteronomy 4:15

      Idolatry Forbidden
15 Do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman.

Gl 5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
Gal 5:3For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Gal 5:4Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. Gal 5:5For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

This is just a monument to the Ego-Mania of the people responsible for this "thing".

Now, don't bring GOD into the picture.
HE had nothing to do with this "thing".
    • cane-juice  •  6 months ago
This "NEW" Biggest Thing is more of a "Shame" than an "Honor".

      Now...., "SO WHAT?"....having this "thing"...?.?.?

The three evils mentioned in this article are not specifically mentioned in the Ten Commandments: "Thou shalt not take, possess or sell illegal drugs", "Thou shalt not gamble", and "Thou shalt not practice or patronize prostitution." Jesus Christ sums up the commandments into two Greatest Commandments (Mk 12: 29-31; Mt. 22:37-40), which include the three and all other wrongdoings you could think of. Of what use are these record-breaking tablets if the commandments are not found in every person's heart and are not obeyed?

Hahahaha, Uy Vergara, bakit di ka natunaw????? As it should drive away Domogan! Somebody, anybody from the Ombudsman really have to look into the present constructions/road "rehabilitations" in and around the city as well as province wide. Their public flaunting(s) of corruption are UNBELIEVABLE and should also be in the Guinness World Book of Records!!! I mean shit, rehab just the ends of a road, call it complete! hahahahahaha! Or dig up a previously rehabilitated road (last year) and re do it bwahahaha!, or put a 3 to 6 man workforce on a multimillion project. And this has been going on for decades. May the good Lord, and all forces that are evil, benign and in between bring forth all the curses, death and illness to you and your bedfellows.
