It all depends on what type of user the owners are. If you prefer constant stability with fewer choice of customize-ablity, then apple will be your friend. Just like choosing between PC & MAC, as for me who likes to maximize the capabilities of my devices, I prefer to use PC (not that I don't have the budget to buy one :D, though even if I have, I'll still choose PC because with the price of a OSX device you can buy a beefy PC). I think android phones are the better choice in terms of practicality. Why?, because you get the same or better functionality & specification but are cheaper. Built in applications are no longer an issue now since you can download almost all applications-like available fon IOS.
This is really misleading. HTC definately stands at 3 place, right behind Samsung. See the side info? 4th quarter 2011, by shipment volume. Let's see the overall sales of 2011.
Makes me wonder which among the others are Droids (Motorola, Alcatel, Cherry, Torque, Kingcom, others) are droids? Add those other droids plus Samsung and HTC phones and you would see that Droids do rule the market
Research in Motion should change its corporate name to "Stagnant Technologies".
Thanks to the two buttheads (Lazaridis and Balsillie) who thought that Blackberry smartphones will always be in demand for their battery life and that the utter-lack of features won't hurt the company's sales.
Smartphone market's evolving mind-blowingly faster than the computer market's in the last 10 years. RIM should have thought about that.
Stupid research. Can't you see that Apple doesn't intend to sell the phones on the mass market or should I say, sell to below middle class people because their target market is for people who could afford it, Samsung, HTC, Nokia, Blackberry, besides high-end, they have low-end phone models that are far cheaper than iPhones that's why their sales where high. iPhones are exclusives and should not be compared to other models.
As ConcernCitizen said, such comparison is biased due to the difference in target market. This is not an issue of inequalities, the poor or the richer depending on the handset owned. Comparing handsets of Sammy to Apple's, it,s not surprising at all if Samsung tops Apple in terms of shipment volume as the survey shows. Consumers have many different options on buying handsets from Samsung which offers many options in different price range contrary to Apple's Iphone. Common sense, a company which offers multiple product line in different price range will surely attract more consumers in various pocket capacity. I think stating the fact of difference in target market does not discriminate at all, besides, some of the samsung galaxy line are not that cheap. Just having the advantage of multiple options for the consumers.
@Malic OF Arabia you're right.
@concern citizen this research isn't stupid, it's a fact. are you saying that rich people isn't part of mass? FYI i'm a middle class person but I can afford to buy iphone 4 s. If it's true that Apple's target are only rich people they're the one you should call STUPID.
Chart showing the market share of major smartphones, headed by Apple with 23.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2011, followed by Samsung with 22.8 percent, according to an IDC report
