PETA activists shed clothes in Year of Snake protest
What better year to push for the protection of snakes than the Chinese Year of the Snake?
As the Chinese community in Manila prepared to welcome the Chinese New Year, two activists from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia mounted a protest against the use of snake skin.
German Vera Emrich and Canadian Ashley Fruno painted their bodies to look like snake skin and carried placards "Snakes Suffer for Exotic Skins."
The protest aims to promote awareness about animal cruelty involved in the production of exotic snake skins used for expensive fashion products. (Text by Kim Arveen Patria)
