Even former Comelec chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. was rushed to the hospital in November 2011, just hours after he went to the Comelec to answer electoral sabotage charges filed against him. In December the same year, he was detained at a local jail and his lawyers appealed for a House arrest for being “weak" and that "further exposure to stressful condition will surely aggravate his fragile state."
