As Filipino Muslims celebrate Eid'l Adha on Friday, President Benigno Aquino III urged them to let the occasion affirm all Filipinos' goal of peace and development.
In his message for the occasion, he also sought a "deeper engagement" from the Muslim community in efforts for a united and progressive Philippines.
Aquino noted Eid’l Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, retells the beautiful story of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son to demonstrate his trust and devotion to Allah.
He said Abraham's readiness to carry out God’s command despite the specter of personal loss and his fortitude against temptation made "him an exemplar of obedience for us all."
"May his example inspire us to be righteous and courageous in our undertakings, that we may follow God’s will for the betterment of ourselves and our world," said Aquino. — DVM, GMA News
