29 Jun - Former Miss World and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has gone on hiatus and has put her latest movie "Heroine" on hold because of her pregnancy, confirmed its producers, following reports from Asia One website.
UTV Motion Pictures' producers of "Heroine", issued an email statement saying "At this point nothing is more important than Aishwarya's well-being and good health."
"In that context, we have all mutually agreed that the best step would be to avoid shooting further, rather than proceeding with an incredibly demanding schedule over the coming months."
The news of the pregnancy became known last week after Rai's father-in-law, Bollywood's screen legend Amitabh Bachchan, expressed his excitement at being a grandfather on both Twitter and his blog.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who won the Miss World title in 1994, is married to Bachchan's 35-year-old actor son, Abhishek.
In May, the former model, which played leading roles in more than 40 Indian movies, also went to the Cannes Film Festival with Ronnie Screwvala, UTV chief executive, to promote "Heroine".
After the pregnancy was announced, Indian media had also reported had that Rai could be replaced as the lead role for the movie.
