For ranting against Azkals, Arnold Clavio earns ire of football fans, celebs and trends on Twitter

MANILA, Philippines - Broadcast personality Arnold Clavio has earned the derision of a number of Filipino football fans after the tirade he made on a morning show against the Philippine football team Azkals went viral.

As seen on a video footage posted on YouTube, Clavio called the Azkals' behavior in question as "insensitive," relating to what he alleged was the team's insufficient if unsatisfactory apology to Cristy Ramos regarding the latter's complaint of sexual harassment against team members Lexton Moy and Angel Guirado.

"Dapat maging aral na sa inyo 'yan. Ang yayabang niyo. Porke't dinadagsa kayo ng mga [fans] ang guguwapo ni'yo, 'di ba?. Parang God's gift to women," said he.

"Ngayon nag-sorry para daw sa isa nilang kasamahan. Saan ka nakakitang Azkal na may suso? Anong 'Cup D, maybe a Cup B' sa isang kasama? Palusot na lang 'yon. Sana kung nag-sorry, sorry na lang talaga," he added.

Seemingly on a roll, Clavio went on to assail the ethnicity of some members of the team saying, "Eh, hindi naman kayo Filipino, nagpapanggap lang kayong kayumanggi, hindi dito lumaki. Mahirap 'yon, insensitive."

More, he said, "Alam naman nila' yung mga 'sexcapades' nila sa isa't isa, sino ang nag-penicillin, alam naman nila 'yan."

Several fans quickly latched onto Clavio's seething comments as seen on several posts made on Twitter, Youtube and Facebook.

allanbeb said, "si Arnold Crab-io utak talangka, Pilipino nga ayaw namang ipagmalaki ang Pinoy..Grow up!"

Dfaqiswrongwithyou alleged, "ARNOLD CLAVIO IS A RACIST B*****D."

Wbisketa opined, "he's entitled to have his opinion but he should have been responsible enough for he's a journalist and he's in front of nat'l television. It's not about his opinion regarding the sexual harassment case, it's about racism. Dahil ba, isa lang sa kanilang magulang ang Pilipino hindi na sila matatawag na Pilipino? At kailangan ba maging kayumanggi para masabing Pilipino? Kung yun ang basehan ng pagiging Pilipino ang daming hindi Pilipino sa Pilipinas

kasama na sina Rizal at Aguinaldo."

crescentine17 said, "asan na yung 'walang kinikilingan..' slogan ng GMA News?"

akocern03 said, "and kung totoo man na may nabastos ang Azkals, that doesn't give Arnold CLavio the right to belittle and disrespect the Azkals. Personal attack ang ginawa nya eh."

Actress Angel Locsin also jumped into the fray by commenting on the matter via her official Twitter account saying, "I think Arnold Clavio's a good person. But this time, sobrang foul lang. That's his opinion. This is mine. Madali lang sumira ng reputasyon, mahirap ibalik. Konting sensitivity lang sana."

Locsin is in a relationship with Azkals striker Phil Younghusband.

Meanwhile, Cristalle Belo, who is said to be dating Azkals player Jason Sabio tweeted, "Wow, Arnold Clavio is still trending... Unfortunately, for the negative and not for the positive."

Cesca Litton, who was once famous for dating singer-actor Jericho Rosales said, "If we go by Arnold Clavio's definition of 'Filipino' as being 'lumaki dito' and 'kayumanggi' then we just lost millions of people."

Despite the brouhaha, the Azkals successfully advanced into the semifinals of the AFC Challenge Cup via a 2-1 shocker win over Tajikistan Tuesday.
