Libya says Gaddafi will mediate in soccer dispute
TRIPOLI - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has accepted an Arab League request to calm tension between Egypt and Algeria sparked by their soccer World Cup play-off matches, Libyan state media reported Tuesday. Egypt and Algeria have each accused the other of failing to protect their citizens and property from attacks by rival football fans. Cairo withdrew its ambassador to Algiers last week and Algeria has demanded an explanation from Cairo.
Indian openers Gambhir, Sehwag stroke centuries
KANPUR, India - Indian openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag struck sparkling centuries as India amassed 417-2 to take a firm grip of the second test against Sri Lanka after the first day's play Tuesday. Gambhir top-scored with 167 to notch a century in his fourth test in a row and after Sehwag hit an aggressive 131, the duo adding a blistering 233 together after skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss on a good pitch.

BMW to test young drivers despite F1 pullout
LONDON - BMW will test American teenager Alexander Rossi and Mexican Esteban Gutierrez in southern Spain next week despite pulling out of Formula One, the German carmaker said on Tuesday. "Depriving these junior drivers of the test we had promised them was not an option for us, even after the withdrawal of BMW from Formula One," said BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen in a statement.
Peel only change to Wales lineup for Wallabies clash
