MANILA, Philippines - "StarStruck V" winner Sarah Lahbati has apologized to her co-star Jessa Zaragoza after her aunt purportedly shooed the latter away from their tent during a taping for their drama series.
Lahbati's aunt, according to write-ups, allegedly deemed that the tent was exclusive for her niece's use.
The young actress said she felt embarrassed towards Jessa, who plays her mother in the afternoon soap opera, "Kokak."
"Wala pong nag-utos na mag-apologize, ako na po ang naunang lumapit sa kanya dahil hiyang-hiya ako," a PEP report quoted her as saying.
According to Sarah, the incident was borne out of a misunderstanding.
"Kasi 'yung tita ko is may pagka-bingi po siya-as in bingi talaga. Yung tipong 'pag nagsasalita, 'yung parang mami-misinterpret ng mga tao talaga, na parang masungit.
"Hindi ko na in-explain 'yun kasi I'm sure na-hurt siya (Jessa), na-offend siya, so nag-apologize ako para sa tita ko, sa nangyari. And I told her na hindi na mauulit," she related.
She admitted that she got "upset" over what had happened.
"I don't know what she exactly said, pero sa narinig ko sa staff and sa explanation ng tita ko, parang she asked Ate Jessa if kung gusto niya... 'yung PA yata or hindi ko alam, eh... 'Kung gusto ninyo po sa kabila para mas may space po kayo?"' said the 18-year-old Kapuso contract star.
Sarah recalled telling her aunt off that "that's wrong, talagang mami-misinterpret niya 'yun..."
To apparently close the issue and avoid a similar incident from happening, Sarah had asked her aunt to not accompany her to tapings.
"Kasi naawa rin ako sa kanya kasi since bingi siya, 'yung parang maraming puwede pang mangyari, so mas mabuting iwasan na lang..." she added.
Despite the unpleasant incident, Jessa maintained that she and Sarah are "okay."
She pointed out though in a separate report that, "pinagsabihan ko rin siya... na sana wala nang ganun. Hindi dapat mangyari 'yung ganun."
The singer stressed the importance of "pakikisama," as well as the values of respect for and consideration towards especially to senior artists.
