Full scholarships at the Independent Science and Technology College (IST) of Greece await at least two Philippine high school students.
IST General Manager Dr. Drakoulis Fountoukakos conveyed the offer to Philippine Ambassador to Greece Meynardo Montealegre at a meeting last July 11.
"Montealegre thanked Fountoukakos and the IST College for the scholarships, which will benefit an increasing number of second generation Filipinos in Greece and those Filipino graduates who want to study in Greece," the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The meeting between the Embassy and the IST College sought to exchange information and explore areas of common interest, focusing on issues related to education and lifelong learning.
It also focused on how the Philippine Embassy in Athens and the IST College can work together to provide skills upgrading opportunities to Filipinos living in Greece through trainings and seminars.
Other programs may include undergraduate and postgraduate programs of study in fields such as nursing, IT, tourism, shipping, and pedagogical studies.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of organizing an event for the Filipino community in Athens, the DFA said.
