Sean 'Diddy' Combs launches TV channel in the US

Announced via a YouTube video on Tuesday, American hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is set to launch his own music television channel in the US, to be called Revolt.

According to The New York Times on Tuesday, the channel will begin broadcasting before the end of the year and be pitched as a music and news channel "influenced by the nonstop chatter of social networking."

Revolt will be broadcast by US television provider Comcast, which is the largest cable television provider in the country.

"We're coming with a new energy, we're coming with something that people are going to want to tune in to see," Diddy told MTV News. It is unclear whether he will appear on the channel himself.

Announced yesterday, basketball star Magic Johnson will also get his own Comcast channel, Aspire, set to launch this summer. The channel will focus on "enlightening, entertaining and positive programming to African-American families," according to news source Multichannel News, and include movies, documentaries, short films, and music.
