MANILA, Philippines - The smuggling of six undeclared motor vehicles and 36,000 pieces of bicycle tires and tire flaps was caught in the act by the X-ray technology of the Bureau of Customs (BoC) when they arrived at the Manila International Container Port.
Lawyer Lourdes Mangaoang, head of the X-ray Inspection Project, said the attempt was foiled when their X-ray machines found some P25 million worth of the smuggled motor vehicles and bicycle tires instead of the supposed shipments' content.
Intercepted were a Yamaha jet ski, a completely knocked down Suzuki station wagon, three Honda motorcycles and a bare Yamaha.
