Rebel killed, 3 captured in Compostela Valley clash

MANILA, Philippines – A suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebel was killed while three others were captured after an encounter with government soldiers in Compostela Valley, the military reported today (Nov. 12).

Reports reaching the Philippine Army headquarters in Manila said elements of the 5th Scout Ranger Company and 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion encountered about five NPA rebels in Brgy. Lahi, Maragusan, Compostela Valley, yesterday. 

Troops recovered high-powered firearms, including three M16 rifles and an M14 rifle, various ammunition and subversive documents from the encounter site. - By Dennis Carcamo (Philstar News Service, www.philstar.com)
