As freelance 3D artist I figured out the advantage and disadvantage of working online.

      Advantage:
      1. Hawak mo oras mo kaya't anytime na you feel tired pede kang ma2log.
      2. Minimal disturbance kaya't maka-focus ka better than working in an office.
      3. More efficient use of time. Imagine yung time na mag commute ka back & fort which could take up to 5 to 6 hours.
In this case only your superior could ---- your performance so when he/she sees your work is good, final na yun.

      Disadvantage:
      1. In my case dahil ako ay per project basis lang pag walang client walang kita.

i hate office politics....why don't we just work to earn and live altogether peacefully?
      • Super Villain 10 months ago
Same here. Pero ganyan tlga everywhere you go lalo na d2 sa atin bansa kung saan lahat kelangan magbanggaan dala na rin cguro ng matinding pangangailangan. But I think this could be minimized kung ang bansa natin ay much more progressive than what it is right now.

Take for example Japan, Korea, China (hate 2 include) wherein kung may office politics nga ay minimal lang compared sa mga bansang napag iiwanan na in terms of economic status.

I beg to disagree mas grabe office politcs sa Japan, ngtrabaho na ako dun divide and rule ang policy ng karamihan sa kanila
      • Super Villain 10 months ago
@Leon I forgot about their type of politics. Sa kanila kasi pagalingan which is healthy at siguradong uunlad.

i believe this article is about those who work at home but are employed by a company but have the option to work at home instead of going to the office. this is not about looking for clients..
      • murck 10 months ago
It is not about people who do freelance job... :)
      • albert 9 months ago
that means that also include looking for clients because if you don't then you won't have a job. ;)

There are many ways. You can hook up with a company to let you work at home.

You can also freelance (though it is risky especially if you don't have a permanent or at least a part-time job).

Here are some of the jobs/businesses you can do at home:

        Freelance Photographer
        Digital Artist
        Web Designer
        Medical transcriptionist
        Blogger
        YouTube star?
      • Cain 10 months ago
You need a stable client to be a stay-at-home medical transcriptionist.

      • Super Villain 10 months ago
Plus it's an assurance na babalikan kyo ng mga clients kung maayos kayo magtrabaho. In the end kayo din ang magbebenifit.

      I'm a lonely work-at-home guy. :(
    • JCity  •  10 months ago
( Pesteng TelComs, ina nyo! )

Working from home has been good to me and my family. I indeed earn more now than when I was still working in a call center. I can also put in as much or as little time into it when I want to since I am disciplined enough to not neglect my home-based job.
    • Durantula  •  10 months ago
I have been working at home for a year already and I am much happier now. It is not true that you'll get fat working at home, in fact now - I have more time to play basketball and go to the ----m unlike before that at least 3 hours of my day are spent traveling just to go to work. Plus, I am earning more now. The only downside is I don't have my health card anymore. No plans of going back to the office for me as of this time, still enjoying it!

With online jobs, we get to work and be with the family at the same time. No more calling home and checking the kids. No more office drama and crazy co-workers. We only work 5 days a week and we've managed to increase our salary by 5-6 times and we are also tax free.

Business attire is not a problem anymore since my business attire consists of a t-shirt and boxer shorts. Heck, sometimes it's just the boxer shorts, hahaha!

There is no need to go out of the Philippines to work and live somewhere else. Earning in USD, AUD, Euro and spending in pesos is the key to doing good here in the Philippines and to be able to afford a better living.

Scrap office work. I'd rather be at home with my wife doing our "Family Business," unless of course, you're trying to stay away from your wife, haha!

weight problems for those who work at home!
    • steph2010  •  10 months ago
It's just a matter of priority. If you want politics or show business -- work in an office. On the other hand, if you prefer to earn more money sans tax -- work online at home. Working at home (like oDesk) eliminates overhead expenses like the daily commute, shopping for appropriate office business clothing and shoes, expensive outdoor food. Plus, you sleep better, and get to manage how much you work and earn, so it's really similar to having your own business. But of course, essential skills are very much necessary, and the drive to be the best at what you do. You won't ever have to buy clothes "for work", or buy outdoor food that's the "cheapest"---you can just buy clothes and eat the food you can afford because you WANT to. :)

Secure yourself first: insurance, trust funds for future plans, also savings for emergency then work at home; lots of home-based businesses. if you you dont have it, don't ever try home-based surely your income shrink.

Been working online full time and freelance for almost 5 years na din. Working with different clients may chance kang kumita ng mas malaki if handled correctly- if not baka lalong maging impyerno ang buhay mo imbes na total freedom. Syempre, pinaka importante ang skill and experience, isabay ko na rin na malaki ang maiitutulonbg kung may sariling kwarto o studio for online work. Sa internet, I have experienced almost all of them at ang pinaka best choice ko eh yung lumang Globe Tattoo, di ako masyado nagkaproblema and since lagi ako lumilipat ng lugar.
