Toshiba launches its first all-in-one desktop PC outside of Japan

Toshiba's DX1210 PC is the company’s first all-in-one PC to hit Australian shores.

Toshiba first unveiled an all-in-one PC in Japan back in mid-2010, but has been slow to offer any configuration of the PC outside of the country.

Companies such as MSI, Apple, HP, Sony, Dell and Lenovo are already embracing the all-in-one PC configuration, in an attempt to marry form with function and design with compact yet powerful computing.

Toshiba describes the DX1210 PC as "a base for connecting and managing other notebooks, tablets or smartphones."

"It’s not uncommon for households to have several technology devices in different rooms, so the DX1210 is a great solution to managing multiple devices through a single hub," said Anthony Geronimo, B2C product marketing manager, Toshiba Information Systems Division.

The media-centric PC comes with a 21.5-inch full HD LCD touchscreen, wireless keyboard and mouse, integrated TV tuner, Blu-ray player, Onkyo speakers and Dolby Audio processing.

Inside, there is an Intel Core i7 or i5 processor, four USB 2.0 ports and two USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI-in port, and a webcam with Face Recognition.

While the DX1210 PC offers multitouch computing and plenty of options for house-wide connectivity, its price tag of AU$1,665 (€1,250, $1760) and relatively small screen might dissuade budget-conscious consumers.
