The cast of “My Husband’s Lover” and their guest performers pulled off a gay show last Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Ok, very gay.
Dubbed “One More Try: My Husband’s Lover The Concert,” in the crowd were the likes of Geoff Eigenmann, Aiza Seguerra, Sebastian Castro and MTRCB Chairman Eugenio “Toto” Villareal. The guest performers were Kyla, Gloc-9, Jonalyn Viray, Aicelle Santos, Maricris Garcia with special participation of Joey de Leon.
The TomDen (Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo) love team didn’t fail to make their fans swoon over their sweet gestures.
“Grabe naman, Bhe. Ngayon pa lang kinikilig na ako, paano pa kaya kung magdu-duet na tayo?” said Dennis in his spiel.
The crowd had been requesting for the two to kiss from the start of the show, and they seemingly got what they wanted when Tom twirled Dennis towards him and their faces ended up inches apart while they were locked in embrace. Did they smack? Well, everyone was just in a tizzy right then and there, that's for sure.
Pop diva and “MHL” mainstay Kuh Ledesma was well-applauded for her songs “One More Try,” “Till I Met You” and “Huwag Kang Mangako.” It came as surprise that Roi Vinzon, who plays the homophobic dad in the series, delivered a superb duet of Rod Stewart’s “I Don’t Want To Talk About It” with her.
“Hindi niyo alam na napaka-galing din umawit nitong artistang ito na napakagaling din umarte. Siya ‘yung aking ka-love team, napaka-pogi,” lauded Kuh.
Meanwhile, Glydel Mercado, Chanda Romero, Karel Marquez and Bettina Carlos danced jazz and delivered a monologue at the concert. Chanda drew cheers in declaring that she is the “universal becky mother.”
“Mga becky, naiintindihan ko kayo, alam na alam ko, feel na feel ko kayo eh. Love ko kayo, mahal na mahal ko kayo, ako (ang) nanay niyo eh. Ako ang ina ng sangkabeckyhan.
“And being the universal becky mother, I will treasure the core value of humanity and that guides people so that we as one we can achieve world peace,” said she.
Kevin Santos, together with hunk actors Victor Basa, Pancho Magno and Rodjun Cruz ramped onstage and did a dance number.
In the end, none of Carla, Tom or Dennis reigned as queen of the night –Keempee de Leon who sat on a huge flower in full drag queen attire, claimed the title.
Carla turned emotional in thanking the people behind the phenomenal success of “My Husband’s Lover.”
The show ended with TomDen’s duet of “One More Try," the series' theme song.
