UN to invest  $375.7M for PHL development

The United Nations and the Philippine government on Monday launched the UN Development Assistance Framework or UNDAF under which $375.7 million will be allotted to help national and local agencies strengthen their capacities to deliver social services.   “This is a statement of commitment by the UN to align the Organization’s development initiatives with the Philippine Development Plan for 2011-2016, which is the national government’s blueprint for inclusive growth,” the US said in a statement citing UN Resident Coordinator Dr. Jacqueline Badcock.   The UNDAF serves as a framework for the UN Country Team (UNCT) in the Philippines in its strategic responses to the development priorities of the country, the UN said.     “… [T]he UNDAF 2012-2018 is partnership-based, and will be implemented in accordance with the UN philosophy of ‘Delivering As One,” Badcock. 'Cost-effective impact'   This means all 25 UN agencies operating in the Philippines will converge “their respective programs when possible to have a greater, more cost-effective impact,” the UN said.   Under the seven-year UNDAF program, which starts next year, $147.2 million in development assistance will be used to strengthen capacities of national and local agencies to deliver quality social services for the poor.   Also, $46.5 million will be used to generate employment through sustained and “green” growth.   For governance, the UNDAF is giving $67.2 million and $114.8 million to “strengthen national and local resilience to climate change, threats, and disasters.”   To fund the development aid package, the US said it will source $79 million from regular UN sources and the rest from other sources.   Badcock and Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director-General Cayetano Paderanga Jr. signed the 2012-2018 UNDAF on July 21, 2011. — VS, GMA News

If this is a HELP then this is good, If this is a LOAN and someday the Philippines will be put into trouble then PH should consider not to accept the $375.7 million.
As the sayings goes...KEEP OUT OF DEBT.

Good intentions will have very bad results. The pols and judges will have their hands in every aspect of this money. If lucky 10% of this money will get to where it is supposed to go.

Yes, this is good news indeed. I think UN believes that PH is traversing the correct path to free itself from graft and corruption, and thus, its confidence to invest in PH infrastructure needs. I just hope UN will commit further and finally rule out on disputed territories in Wes Phil. Sea.
And finally, I hope the crabs, the desperate negative ions, and the leftists/commie/so-so rebel kidnappers will not pour in like bad weather on this very positive news.
And let this post serve as a ring of salt/holy H2O/cloves of garlic/UV light/silver bullet/and dirty underwear to those aforementioned creatures of the pit. LOL!

are you not happy for what is happening right now?, meaning our country will have a booster for possible economic growth, i think hindi utang yan , maging openminded tayo na maging ok ang status ng bansa, in fact magiging ok yan, really we are blessed for that, darating ang araw na 75 percent na mga OFW ay uuwi para manirahan sa pinas because of having good economy, and lets all pray for that, not for your sake but for the future of your siblings.

isumbong yung mga kurakot, nararapat na tanggalin sa puesto, magsimula kayo sa baranggay.

economic means businesses, part talaga ng business ang word na "investment" but the most important is more Filipino's will benefit from that. madami pa sana pero inaantok na ako . goodnyt

I would never invest my hard earn capital where corruption is at an all time high. I may lose my life savings, including the 5,000 peso shirt I bought yesterday.
