DALLAS (AP) — Pilots at Trans States Airlines, which operates United Express flights, will vote next week on a contract that would give them pay raises at double-digit percentages.
The Air Line Pilots Association said negotiators reached tentative agreement on a four-year labor contract that also includes better work rules and stronger job-security measures for pilots.
The union said pilots would get raises averaging 11.7 percent and first officers or co-pilots would get average 14.5 percent increases. The pilots would also get signing bonuses. Union spokeswoman Kimberly Seitz said those raises would take effect when the deal is approved, and pilots would get "modest" annual increases of about 1 percent or 1.5 percent each year.
The union said Trans States pilots have been among the lowest-paid in the airline industry.
The airline and the union had negotiated for more than five years.
Seitz said pilots would hold a ratification vote from July 20 to July 29.
