Video That Broke Derek’s Heart Goes Viral, Tops Trending List

Stories of heartbreak involving the stars almost always make the headlines and recently, even a video of a song that has sent Derek "Anna Banana" Lorenzo reeling had people standing up in attention and clicking away on their computers to follow the romance-gone-south.

As of Aug. 30, the video ad featuring Anna Benaza, the girl of Derek's affection alluded to in his "Anna Banana" video, has already commanded a total view count of 237, 277. That's an average of 7,652 views per day, with the most number of views happening on Aug. 25 at 24,000 views.

In her video, Anna sang back to Derek that she can't accept him even if he "loves her a bunch."

"Derek, forget it, don't like you that much...you dance like a monkey, and I don't think that's hot," Anna sings, before dropping the bomb.

"Derek, forget it already, you don't have a chance...we'll never be together, it's all in your head."

Anna's video that has gone viral just like Derek's, has earned a lot of feedback from people, many of whom sympathize with the rejected teen.

What helped Derek get over this heartache is his family's support with PLDT myDSL showing clearly that the strongest connections truly come from home. The commercial shows mama Berns, and introduces the rest of the Lorenzos, from Derek's dad to his charming little sister, coming together to show him support and shower him with much love.

Fortunately, Derek's love story doesn't end there. PLDT myDSL has taken it upon itself to find him a "New Anna" by launching a search where teenage girls can upload their videos to cheer up Derek. The girls can do this by dancing, singing or anything creative. The best three girls will not only bring the smile back on Derek's face, but they will also get the chance to be part of the next PLDT commercial.

Some 200 videos have already been uploaded with more expected to pour in as PLDT myDSL sets up booth at the following malls in search of the new Anna: Robinsons Manila Place in Manila (level 1 fronting Jollibee Adriatico Wing) on Sept. 1 and 2; and at SM Megamall (UGF Bldg B. Space 2 and 3 fronting French Baker) on Sept. 8 and 9. Check out www.dereksnewanna.com to find out more and to see the entries.

Meanwhile, Derek's original video has racked up an additional 131,049 views a month after Benaza's video ad aired on cyberspace, bringing his total views to a staggering 1,496,205.

A gnome grows in Chelsea - at the flower show, that is

By Paul Casciato LONDON (Reuters) - Some spectators at London's Chelsea Flower Show wouldn't be caught dead with one in the trunk of their Bentley, but garden gnomes have turned up at the show's 100th edition this year, for charity. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), which runs Chelsea in the grounds of the Christopher Wren-built Royal Hospital Chelsea, has lifted a ban on the ceramic figures with floppy hats and beards in order to raise funds for an RHS charity that supports the use of

By Jane Lee SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Humor may not always translate well, but Jon Stewart is picking up millions of fans in China, where his gloves-off political satire is refreshing for many in a country where such criticism is a rarity - especially when directed at their own leaders.
