The United States got there first and now Russia, India and China are racing to claim their own lunar breakthroughs.
In fact, China plans to open a permanent base on the moon in seven years.
Does that mean the communist nation will declare the celestial body as its own?
No one knows but an international treaty signed in the sixties has declared the moon open to all nations.
However in 1980, American businessman Dennis Hope claimed the moon as his property and even sold plots of land on the galactic entity to nearly 4 million people.
Amid questions hurled against its early partial proclamation, the poll body on Friday named three more winning Senate candidates even before it completed its official count.
