ONE died and two others were wounded when two motorcycles collided with each other in Sitio Frenza, Barangay Talaga, Argao town, southern Cebu at 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2022.

Marlit Aballe Cañete, 45, of Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, died instantly due to the impact caused by the collision.

He was brought to the hospital but was declared dead by attending physician.

The driver of the other motorcycle, Joshua Allego, 32, a construction worker from Sitio Bayabas, Barangay Cansuje, Argao town, suffered injuries, while his backrider and cousin Cloudy Allego was critically wounded.

Joshua, however, admitted to the police that he was intoxicated during the incident.

Joshua said they drank wine in their house and later on proceeded to the neighboring town of Dalaguete on board a Rusi motorcycle to drink beer.

On their way back home, Staff Sergeant Jorge Tapales, traffic investigator for Argao Police Station, said in an interview with SunStar Cebu that Joshua lost control of his motorcycle as he was driving very fast and hit Cañete from the opposite direction.

It was learned that the Allegos did not wear helmets during the incident.

Cañete was wearing one but died due to the impact from the collision.

Tapales said the area where the collision took place is prone to accident. (GPL, TPT)
