10K passengers expected to flock to terminals this weekend, says official

AROUND 10,000 passengers who are going to their respective hometowns to celebrate the New Year are expected to flock to the Cebu South and North Bus terminals this weekend.

Carmen Quijano, who manages both bus terminals, said around 50,000 passengers have already trooped to bus terminals starting last December 23, 2022 until at the time of this writing and the number is expected to increase during the weekend.

"Paminaw nako mosobra pa og 50,000. Wala gyu'y puas ang mga tawo pwerte gyung daghana. Ang mga bata pwerteng daghana mga bagahe pwerteng daghana. Di gyud mabangbang pwerte gyud," Quijano said on Thursday, December 29.

(I think it will exceed 50,000. People never stopped (pouring into the terminals), there are plenty of them. There are also lots of children as well as baggage. It’s overwhelming).

The crowd at the terminals also included foreign tourists who wanted to visit the different tourist destinations in Cebu Island.

Quijano advised passengers to come to the terminal early to avoid the long queues before they could get a ride.

"Akong ikaingon ninyo come early kay atong lingkuranan sa sulod maka accommodate ta 1,500 ka mga pasahero," she said.

(As I said, come early because seats in our waiting area can only accommodate 1,500 passengers).

In line with this development, Quijano requested for four additional security guards and eight janitorial personnel to maintain order and cleanliness at both terminals respectively. (ANV, TPT)
