THE Cebu City Government has ordered the closure of 12 stalls at the Larsian Food Park after their owners failed to provide sufficient documents.
Personnel of the Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (Probe) delivered the closure orders to Smily’s Best Barbecue, May’s Barbecue,Eliza’s Barbecue, Alindasay BBQ, Macmac BBQ, 3 Sisters BBQ, Ann’s BBQ, Bing’s Eatery, Mama Lucing’s Grill Station, Ruel Georsen Eatery, Suite 16 BBQ and Sobra Gana.
The closure orders were based on a legal opinion issued by the City Legal Office chief Rey Gealon on Feb. 29, 2020.
According to Gealon, the 12 stalls were operating without a business permit, sanitary permit and health certificates.
By not having these documents, the stall owners were violating the City’s Revised Omnibus Tax Ordinance and Presidential Decree 856, or the Sanitation Code of the Philippines, he said.
He said they gave the stall owners ample time to secure the documents but, as of press time, they still had to submit these to the City.
However, Gealon clarified that if the stall owners can comply with the requirements and present these to the Business Processing and Licensing Office, then they can reopen. (PAC, JKV)
