Something odd has been happening in the UK this summer.
Our usual one-week heatwave has spanned a month of endless clear blue skies and balmy temperatures that rival our Mediterranean neighbours.
The perfect antidote to hot weather in any country is a dip in the pool, but these can be hard to find when you live in the middle of a city.
In light of this, we've rounded up the best urban pools - from New York City, to Singapore and London - that you can swim in.
1. Badeschiff, Berlin, Germany
This floating pool allows you to enjoy a panoramic view of the River Spree, the Oberbaum Bridge and the TV Tower. The recreational area around the pool is used for yoga, stand-up paddle boarding classes and beach parties - making it the ultimate summer destination when visiting Berlin.
Price: £4.86 for an adult day ticket, £1.77 for a child day ticket.
2. SkyPark Infinity Pool, Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore
Reserved for hotel guests only, this may be the world's most stunning infinity pool. Set on the 57th floor, look out over the Singapore skyline while you sunbathe or cool off in the pool. Watching the sunset from the pool is reason enough to book a room at Marina Bay Sands.
Price: Restricted to hotel guests only.
3. Bondi Icebergs, Sydney, Australia
A Sydney landmark for over a century, you'll find locals doing lanes at the Bondi Icebergs at any time of year. The pool has one of Syndey's best views overlooking the iconic Bondi Beach.
Price: £4 for an adult and £2.80 for a child.
4. Laugarvatn Fontana, Iceland
Located in the middle of Iceland's famed Golden Circle, Laugarvatn Fontana is open until 10pm during the winter months, meaning you can watch the northern lights dance across the sky while lazing in the pool.
Price: £26 for an adult, £14 for a 13 to 16-year-old and free for children under 12.
5. La Vilette Basin, Paris, France
The La Vilette Basin is a free public swimming pool just 15 minutes from the the centre of Paris and is filled with water from the Ourcq canal.
6. Kitsilano Pool, Vancouver, Canada
Vancouver's only saltwater swimming pool is open from mid-May through to September and has gorgeous views over the city and mountains.
Price: £3.50 for an adult.
7. Annenberg Beach House, Santa Monica, USA
Found next to the beach in Santa Monica Bay, this pool is one of the remaining features from the historic Marion Davies Estate that once occupied the area. Now a community beach house, this pool is free but at night there is a small charge for the adults-only sunset swim.
8. Kastrup Sea Bath, Copenhagen
Situated off-shore in the Øresund Sound, this architecturally stunning building has views of Saltholm Island and Sweden. Jump from one of the three or five-metre diving boards into the deep sea below - but note families with kids are advised to swim at the shore where it is shallow.
9. Szechenyi Baths, Budapest, Hungary
The Szechenyi Baths are a Budapest landmark and a must-visit when you're there. In the height of summer they will likely be packed, but are a refreshing way to cool off in a sweltering hot city.
Price: £15 for full day with locker usage.
10. Les Bains Des Docks, Le Havre, France
Inspired by the Roman Baths, there are six indoor and outdoor pools located at this aquatic facility in the centre of Le Harve, France. It also includes a kids play area and waterfalls that flow into the indoor pools.
Price: £4.38 for an adult and £1.80 for a child.
11. The Astoria Pool, New York City, USA
Who knew there was a pool in the heart of New York City? Located next to the East River with postcard views of the Triborough Bridge, the pool is open from 11am to 7pm daily over summer, closing in early September.
12. Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc, Barcelona, Spain
Created for the diving events of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, these two pools are open from June to September each year and offer stunning views over the city, including the famous Sagrada Familia.
Price: £5.80 for an adult.
13. Sea Point Pavilion, Cape Town, South Africa
Situated by next to the ocean, these four pools are open from 7am to 7pm each day and are located in the heart of Cape Town.
Price: £1.30 for adults and 66p for children.
14. Piscinas Das Marés, Porto, Portugal
Built in the 1960s, these two tidal saltwater swimming pools are now considered to be a National Monument of Portugal.
Price: £5.36 for a full day.
15. Shoreditch House, London, UK
This open-air rooftop pool is available exclusively to members of Soho House and boasts some of the best views across the city. The 16-metre pool is surrounded by greenery, daybeds and a bar plus, it’s open all year round.
