MANDAUE City Police Office is 17 policemen less after they tested positive for the new coronavirus in the swab test results released Monday, June 29, 2020.
Mandaue City Police Director Colonel Jonathan Abella said four of the 17 policemen are investigators from Police Station 5, who possibly got the virus from one of their detainees. The said detainee tested positive for the coronavirus.
Disinfection procedures were immediately conducted on Police Station 5 to stop further infection.
The four investigators are now being monitored in an isolation center in Mandaue City, Abella said.
The 13 other policemen are detailed with the Crisis Management Battalion handling the border checkpoints in Mandaue City.
Reports said the policemen got the virus from the driver of the police service vehicle who is from Cebu City.
Abella said all of the policemen are asymptomatic and assured that the PNP will take care of them until they recovered from Covid-19.
In the meantime, Station 5 is not receiving any complainants and the public is advised to just proceed to Mandaue City Police Officer for their concerns.
Abella all police personnel are regularly reminded to observe the minimum health standards as they carry their daily work.(AYB/MVG)
