199 nabbed, more than P1M worth of illegal drugs confiscated in 1st day of ‘Oplan Huli Days’

AROUND 62 drug suspects were arrested and more than P1 million worth of illegal drugs were recovered by personnel of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas’ (PRO 7) on Thursday night, Oct. 27, 2022.

The 62 drug suspects were arrested in 32 operations conducted by PRO 7 operatives as part of its “Oplan Huli Day” operations to ensure that the region remains crime-free during the long weekend until All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days on Nov. 1 and 2.

Aside from anti-illegal drug operations, PRO 7 operatives also conducted anti-gambling operations during the first day of Oplan Huli Day, with around 27 people arrested for illegal gambling and P4,899 worth of gambling proceeds were confiscated.

Police also arrested 110 wanted persons, 15 of which were included on the region’s most wanted list.

PRO 7 also confiscated 22 loose firearms during Oplan Huli Day.

PRO 7 Director and Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba said the implementation of Oplan Huli Days will continue until the end of the long weekend.

He also urged his personnel, especially those assigned to safeguard cemeteries during the two-day Kalagkalag observance, to remain vigilant. (AYB, JKV)
