2,500 employees in formal sector to get P5,000 each from DOLE-Central Visayas

THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Central Visayas has disbursed a total of P12,550,000 under its Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (Camp)-Bayanihan 2 from November 13 to 19, 2020.

The amount will go to 2,500 formal sector workers from 231 establishments hit hard by the economic effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

They each will receive P5,000 cash.

Luchel Taniza, DOLE-Central Visayas information officer, in a message sent to SunStar Cebu, said the amount disbursed and the number of beneficiaries will be updated in the coming days as the evaluation of Camp-Bayanihan 2 applications is still ongoing.

Of the 2,500 intended beneficiaries, 713 are workers from 41 establishments in the cities of Lapu-Lapu, Cebu and Mandaue; and 189 are workers from 23 establishments in Cebu Province.

A total of 326 workers from 36 establishments in Bohol will also receive the cash assistance, along with 1,119 workers from 103 establishments in Negros Oriental and 153 workers from 28 establishments in Siquijor.

DOLE-Central Visayas Director Salome Siaton, in a statement, said some have already claimed their cash assistance, including those in the education sector.

While those who have yet to claim theirs will have to wait for their respective reference numbers which will be distributed through a text blast by a money remittance center, which is the agency’s Camp service provider.

The priority beneficiaries of Camp-Bayanihan 2 are affected employees of micro, small, and medium establishments who applied for Camp on or before April 15 this year, but did not receive any financial assistance under Bayanihan 1; establishments that are not categorized as micro, small, and medium establishments which applied for Camp on or before April 15, but did not receive any financial assistance under Bayanihan 1; micro, small and medium establishments that will apply for the first time under Bayanihan 2 and other private establishments which are not categorized as micro, small. and medium establishments that will apply for the first time under Bayanihan 2.

A total of 31,618 workers (with funds equivalent to more than P158 million) from the formal sector in the region benefited from Camp-Bayanihan 1. (WBS)
